The best player in the 2021 recruiting class is a Buckeye.

Recently, 247Sports, Rivals.com and ESPN reranked players in the 2021 recruiting class, meaning several players saw a shift in their status. After the reshuffling, Ohio State commit Jack Sawyer has risen to the No. 1 player in the class, according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings.

It’s a one-spot increase for the five-star defensive end. He was previously listed as the No. 2 player of the class, per the same rankings system.

Sawyer is not ranked as the No. 1 player in any of the three recruiting services, but his consistent high-ranking across the board gives him the top spot in the Composite rankings. Sawyer is No. 2 for ESPN, No. 3 for 247Sports and Np. 3 for Rivals.

A 6-foot-5, 220-pound native of Pickerington, Ohio, Sawyer has been a long-time commitment for the Buckeyes, despite having two years of high school left before heading to Columbus. When puts on the scarlet and gray, he’ll be doing it as the best player in the 2021 class.
