At this rate, Ohio State might run out of players on the defensive side of the ball in the Rose Bowl.
Coming into the game, the Buckeyes were already down 2 dozen scholarship players for a combination of reasons. Then, the Buckeyes lost DL Jack Sawyer in the first half due to a targeting call.
Now, Ohio State must also deal with the absence of defensive back Lathan Ransom due to a leg injury. Ransom was injured on a kickoff return before receiving an aircast on his left leg and getting carted off the field.

The ESPN broadcast provided an update just before halftime with the news that Ransom has been transported to Huntington Hospital to receive x-rays on his leg. Hopefully he is alright and able to make a speedy recovery.
Ransom finished the 2021 season 7th on Ohio State with 38 tackles and registered 5 passes defended.
