Ohio State defensive back Shaun Wade already has some familiarity with Alabama quarterback Mac Jones ahead of Monday’s National Championship Game.

Wade and Jones played 7-on-7 together in high school, and Wade even had a humorous nick name for the Tide’s QB:

Money Making Mac.

“I’ve been knowing Mac for a long time, Money Making Mac, that’s what we called him,” Wade told reporters on Wednesday. “He is a confident guy in just how he is. He’s a hard worker and great quarterback, and really looking forward to playing against him this week.”

Both players are from the Jacksonville, Fla., area.

“Playing with him 7-on-7 in high school, it’s just a blessing in disguise both of the places that we chose,” Wade added. “And just us playing against each other in this game, it is a blessing.”

Jones led arguably the nation’s best offense this season, which includes Heisman Trophy winner Devonta Smith. But Wade seems excited about that challenge, as well.

The National Championship Game is on Monday, Jan. 11.
