Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles isn’t focusing on where credit is due for the Buckeyes’ Week 1 win over Indiana. OSU’s offense wasn’t firing on all cylinders in the 23-3 victory, but Knowles’ unit contained the Hoosiers to just 153 yards of total offense.

The Buckeye defense did the heavy lifting, but Knowles isn’t interested in looking at it as bailing out the offense.

“It’s being part of a team. … You want to be a great teammate, that includes me as a coach,” Knowles said in a Tuesday media opportunity. “We are all part of a team, we just want to make sure that people can count on you.”

With a B1G win under its belt, Ohio State has a couple of weeks to figure things out and start looking like a top-5 team. Youngstown State is on deck for Saturday, with Western Kentucky scheduled for Week 3. All eyes are on the Week 4 showdown with No. 10 Notre Dame. The Irish have outscored Navy and Tennessee State 98-6 in their first 2 contests.
