Buckeyes defensive line coach Jack Sawyer made the media rounds on Tuesday and touched on both Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau.

Sawyer is a 5-star true freshman out of Ohio as he was the top-ranked player from the state during the 2021 class. Per 247Sports Composite ranking, he was the 5th best player nationally and the 3rd best defensive lineman recruit in the country.

As for Tuimoloau, he was also part of the 2021 class and was ranked as the 4th best recruit nationally and the 2nd best defensive lineman nationally per his 247Sports Composite ranking.

In the video, Johnson spoke highly about both, especially how explosive Sawyer is:

“Jack is a quick, very explosive player. J.T. is just the opposite — explosive, quick, and powerful,” Johnson said. “He can play on top of the end in any six technique and knock the line of scrimmage back. So he’s very powerful, he’s got great lower body strength. Jack is a finesse guy. He’ll find a way to beat you and he’s a highly competitive guy so that’s what I like about both of them.”
Despite both of these players being freshmen, there’s no doubt they’ll both get playing time, especially with comments like these from Johnson.
