Ohio State is wrapping up the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation on National Signing Day, but one defensive lineman has reportedly hit the transfer portal.

On Wednesday afternoon, Kevin Noon with Buckeye Grove reported that defensive tackle Zaid Hamdan has entered his name into the portal. A walk-on member of the 2018 recruiting class, Hamdan was a B1G Distinguished Scholar in 2020 and an Academic All-B1G selection in 2019.

Hamdan spent three seasons in the program but did not record any stats with the Buckeyes. Hamdan’s decision to look elsewhere could be related to some returners for the Buckeyes, along with the incoming 2021 recruiting class.

Though star DT Tommy Togiai declared for the NFL Draft, Haskell Garrett is coming back for the 2021 season. Garrett was a vital contributor in 2020 with four TFL and two sacks and will be an anchor for Ohio State’s defensive front in 2021.

Beyond that, Ohio State is adding two four-star DT’s in 2021 with Mike Hall and Tyleik Williams.

Best of luck to Hamdan moving forward if he does indeed make the decision to leave Columbus.
