Ohio State freshman defensive lineman Tyleik Williams is getting rewarded with more reps after a clutch play in Week 3. Williams entered the contest having just three snaps but came away with a major momentum turning moment.

A 17-yard sack by Williams midway through the fourth quarter helped Ohio State defeated Tulsa. Now Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson is giving Williams an increased role, according to Eleven Warriors.

“Tyleik’s a guy that stands out right now, he’s probably gonna see more time,” Johnson said via Eleven Warriors.

Williams was the lone Ohio State defensive lineman to grade as a champion during the win vs. Tulsa. Ohio State coach Ryan Day is emphasizing the importance of defensive pressure up front.

“I’d like to see a little bit more of a pass rush,” Day said. “It was good to see Tyleik get that one, but we gotta do a little bit better job of making the quarterback uncomfortable.”

Next up for Ohio State is a matchup against in-state opponent Akron on Sept. 25 (7:30 p.m. EST/BTN).
