Ohio State is a little over a week removed from the national championship win over Notre Dame that returned the Buckeyes to the top of the college football world! On Sunday, Ohio State relished in that victory with a Columbus celebration, and the program has now released the cinematic recap of the final game of the season.

It opens with Ryan Day leading a team meeting less than a week from the game in Atlanta. Then, it provides a quick flashback to a similar meeting at the end of the summer with Day pointing to Atlanta as the destination the Buckeyes were shooting for.

Despite some rocky moments in the regular season, Ohio State advanced to the final game of the season with wins over Tennessee, Oregon and Texas in the College Football Playoff. The recap then switches into pre-game festivities leading up to kickoff from Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

“You’re different. WE are different,” says Day in his pre-game speech. “So right from the jump, make sure they understand they’re playing someone different tonight. They’re playing the Buckeyes. They’re playing THE Ohio State Buckeyes!”

The game would not come easy. In spite of building a 28-7 lead, the Buckeyes would allow the Fighting Irish to claw back into things at 31-23 inside 5 minutes to play.

It led to a 3rd-and-long opportunity to ice the game for the Buckeyes and introduced a flashback to previous comments from Day leading up to the game.

“Their defense, over 80% man (coverage) going into this game… That’s who they are,” explained Day about Notre Dame’s defensive tendencies. “As we know against man-to-man, you’ve got to create what wideouts? Separation… You’ve got to win your one-on-one.”

What came next was a play for the ages in Ohio State football history with Jeremiah Smith winning a man-to-man matchup for a game-sealing 56-yard reception.

It goes down as the 9th title in Buckeye history, the first of Ryan Day’s head coaching career and an iconic moment in history as the first title of the 12-team Playoff era. Here is the full recap in all its glory:
