Michael Hall Jr. got redshirted during his 1st season at Ohio State. Hall took it surprisingly well, even though a lot of people figured he was going to play his freshman season per Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors.

Hall came out of Streetsboro High School in Streetsboro, Ohio as a 4-star DL from the 2021 class per the 247Sports Composite. He ended up choosing the Buckeyes over Alabama, Akron, Arkansas, and Arizona State. Hall stated that while it took him a little bit longer to pick up Ohio State’s defensive system, he is grateful for the experience.

“It took me a while to get accustomed to it, but definitely now, I feel like I’m making great progress,” Hall said. “Some guys pick it up faster than others, and I was just one of those guys that just, it took a little bit more time. But I appreciated the time that it took, and you just value it more.”

Now Hall feels better than ever. He says that is feeling a lot more explosive and just like a different player than he was before. Taking a redshirt year could be a huge difference maker for him, and he is very glad that he took that opportunity to do so.

“I definitely feel I’m a different player,” Hall said. “Just getting off the ball more and using my hands. Just overall, everything, I feel like I’m making a lot of progress from my freshman year and just starting to get everything down.”
