Ohio State fans absolutely love it when players show their passion heading into the yearly battle with Michigan. The hatred the Buckeyes and fans share for “That Team Up North” is a real connecting point this time of the year.
With that in mind, Ohio State fans are absolutely going to love the message quarterback Dwayne Haskins said on Twitter.
ESPN released an image remembering one of the greatest performances in the history of “The Game,” Troy Smith’s 316-yard, four-touchdown performance against Michigan in 2006.
That year, Ohio State was ranked No. 1 and Michigan was ranked No. 2. A B1G title and a berth in the national championship game were all on the line in Columbus. The Buckeyes prevailed with a 42-39 victory and Smith’s performance guaranteed his spot as the Heisman Trophy winner.
Apparently, Ohio State’s current quarterback has watched that game on repeat. And he had a message prior to this weekend’s matchup against Michigan.
“Watched this ga(m)e at least a 100 ti(m)es. Took (m)y notes…#BeatTTUN,” Haskins wrote on Twitter.

This will be Haskins first time playing against Michigan as the starting quarterback, but he got a good taste of the rivalry last year, working in relief of J.T. Barrett.
Last season, following an injury to Barrett, Haskins came in and completed 6-of-7 passes for 94 yards and added 24 yards on three carries.
The Buckeyes won their sixth-straight game in the series with a 31-20 victory.
There’s a lot at stake this year and Haskins is now the guy under center. He’s handled the pressure well all season long and he seems ready for Saturday’s marquee matchup.
