Ohio State is riding high as the current king of college football, and a return to the football field is right around the corner for spring practices.

On Monday, Ohio State football confirmed that spring practices will officially begin on Monday, March 17. The spring practice sessions will conclude on Saturday, April 12 with the program’s Spring Showcase inside Ohio Stadium.

Details of the showcase itself have not been confirmed yet, but fans will be able to take part in Buckeye Gameday Fan Fest on that date as well. The Fan Fest will run from 9 am to noon leading up to the Spring Showcase.

Recent comments from Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule about the potential — and desire — to host a non-traditional spring game and not televise the event has clouded the outlook for what has traditionally been a marquee spring event for every major program. Other programs, including Texas, are reportedly considering canceling the traditional spring game model, so it will be interesting to see what the Buckeyes have planned.

No matter the format, this year’s team will feature many new faces and new roles across the board. An area of particular interest for Ryan Day and his Buckeyes will reside at the quarterback position with all expectations for former 5-star prospect Julian Sayin to grab the reins in the battle and to be the Day 1 starter in 2025.

A new defensive coordinator and re-worked offensive staff also move to the forefront of a season of re-tooling and reloading if the Buckeyes want to maintain their grip on the crown of college football.
