Ohio State football is getting some key players back for the 2023 season. That group added linebacker Tommy Eichenberg to its ranks on Thursday.

So far, the Buckeyes have received 2023 decisions to return from Eichenberg, Miyan Williams, Matt Jones, Cade Stover and Xavier Johnson. The official Twitter account of the program addressed a “theme” of returning players Thursday night, accompanied by the eyeball emoji.

A number of fans on social media were quick to make the connection to CJ Stroud, a key Buckeye we have yet to hear from regarding his plans for 2023. Widely regarded as one of the top quarterback prospects in the country and a likely top-5 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, many expect Stroud to declare to go pro in the very near future.

Then again, it is worth noting Stroud has come up just short in terms of the Heisman Trophy in back-to-back seasons while also going 0-2 against Michigan without a B1G title or national championship appearance.

The tweet may be a tease that Stroud is mulling a big-time return to Columbus, or Ohio State could just be trying to build suspense for Stroud’s inevitable call on the NFL Draft. Fans will have to wait a bit longer, but Stroud’s decision is still likely to come out in the days ahead.
