According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, Ohio State is projected to win 11.8 games this season. That includes a potential appearance in the Big Ten Championship Game.

FPI also gives the Buckeyes a 75.5% chance to win the Big Ten East this season. That would end Michigan’s reign as division champs. Similarly, Ohio State has a 71.2% chance to win the Big Ten, per the model.

Ohio State is entering this season with College Football Playoff aspirations. FPI is giving Ryan Day’s team a 82.2% chance to make the Playoff this season. Its odds to win the National Championship currently stand at 36.7%, per FPI. That’s by far the highest mark of any team in the country.

Ohio State does enter this season with question marks on both sides of the ball. The Buckeyes’ quarterback competition between Devin Brown and Kyle McCord is expected to continue into the fall.

The Buckeyes also face a tough schedule. They’re currently set to face 3 teams in FPI’s offseason top 10 at some point in 2023: Notre Dame, Penn State and Michigan.
