Despite a 4-0 record, ESPN analyst Desmond Howard sees flaws to Ohio State. Issues, he says, that have him thinking that the Big Ten team shouldn’t be in the College Football Playoff.

The Buckeyes check in at No. 4 in the most recent College Football Playoff, this despite the fact that they have had some struggles over the past few weeks. They are the only Big Ten team in the CFP’s top 10.

“So when you judge their strength of schedule, it’s the worst of any of the top 10 teams right now. But Gary Barta continuously tells the crew on Tuesday nights, BYU is so low because of their strength of schedule,” former Michigan star Desmond Howard said on ESPN on Wednesday morning.

“I would say just right now, just by the eye test, Ohio State is not one of the top four teams in the country. I think Texas A&M is playing very well right now. The Florida Gators, their offense is very hot right now and their quarterback is probably the front runner for the Heisman trophy.”

Ohio State has seen two games cancelled so far this year and in their last two outings (a 49-27 win over Rutgers and a 42-35 win against Indiana), they didn’t exactly appear to be in their prime. In particular against Indiana, they struggled with turnovers and their defense was exposed.

The Big Ten had a total of five teams in the CFP: Indiana (No. 12), Northwestern (No. 14), Wisconsin (No. 16) and Iowa (No. 19).
