Ohio State’s recruiting has not skipped a beat since Ryan Day took over as head coach, and the Buckeyes just pulled in a huge commitment Thursday evening.

This time, the commitment came from Quinn Ewers, one of the best prospects for the class of 2022. Ewers is a 5-star recruit and is ranked the No. 2 overall prospect nationally and the No. 1 pro-style QB by the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

He shared his commitment on Twitter:

Ewers hails out of Southlake, Texas, and was originally committed to the Texas Longhorns. He decommitted at the end of October with speculation swirling that the Buckeyes may be on Ewers’ radar.

Ewers made that official Thursday night with his commitment to Day and the Buckeyes, earning Ohio State’s head coach a massive win in recruiting. On the flip side, the Longhorns losing this in-state prospect is a huge blow to Tom Herman.

Considering Ohio State’s recent work in recruiting elite wide receivers, grabbing one of the best quarterback recruits for the near future should signal continued great work for the Buckeye offense. Day has already shown what he can do while working with quarterbacks like Dwayne Haskins and Justin Fields, and Ewers’ commitment should excite fans for more of the same.
