Ohio State lands pledge from elite offensive lineman in 2025 class
Ohio State refuses to slow down on the recruiting trail. On Saturday, the Buckeyes beat out Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and Michigan for a verbal commitment from one of the best offensive tackles in the 2025 class.
Toledo (Ohio) Whitmer’s Carter Lowe announced his commitment to Ryan Day and the Buckeyes live on the 247Sports YouTube page. He said the opportunity to stay home and play in front of family — Saturday was his grandfather’s 81st birthday — was a big motivating factor for him. So, too, was the bond he built with Ohio State’s staff.
“Since the day they offered, they never stopped on me,” Lowe said. “Out of all the coaches I talked to — head coaches — me and Coach Day were really locked in, so I really appreciated that a lot from them.”
A 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman, Lowe is ranked a 4-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s ranked as the No. 3 prospect from the state of Ohio and the No. 9 tackle. In the overall player rankings, Lowe sits at No. 79.
On the heels of signing college football’s second-ranked recruiting class in the 2024 cycle, Day is building another gem of a class in 2025.
Lowe’s pledge brings Ohio State up to seven known commitments for a group that ranks third in the country. So far, Lowe is the only offensive lineman in the class.
