Ohio State has landed a verbal pledge from a local offensive tackle.

Monday evening, 3-star offensive tackle Jakob James gave his commitment to the Buckeyes, becoming the seventh player of the 2020 class. He made his announcement official through a message on Twitter.

“The next step is becoming a part of the legacy and tradition that is OSU Football and Buckeye Nation,” James said on Twitter.

James is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and raked in 21 offers, according to 247Sports. He’s listed at 6-foot-5, 275 pounds.

It’s still early in the 2020 recruiting cycle, but the Buckeyes currently have the third-best recruiting class and the top in the B1G. Not a bad start for Ryan Day and Co.
