Ohio State has landed a key piece for the tight end room with Cade Stover preparing for the jump to the NFL.

The transfer commitment comes from Will Kacmarek, a veteran TE out of Ohio. Kacmarek was a member of the 2021 recruiting class for the Bobcats and appeared in 29 career games over 3 seasons for the program.

“Very excited for this new opportunity! Thank you friends, family, and coaches helping me get to this position,” Kacmarek wrote on social media.

Across the past two seasons, Kacmarek recorded 42 total catches for 507 yards and 2 touchdowns while averaging 12.1 yards per catch. He’s listed at 6-foot-6 and 256 pounds, bringing an impressive frame to the position for the Buckeyes.

Stover has been Ohio State’s leader in the TE room the past two seasons, but he is departing the program with the 2023 season wrapped up. He produced 982 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns in the past two seasons.

Behind Stover, Gee Scott Jr. and true freshman Jelani Thurman were the key TE performers. Scott finished the 2023 season with 10 catches for 70 yards and a touchdown while Thurman had 2 catches for 18 yards.

Thurman is a key prospect to watch moving forward, but the addition of Kacmarek gives the Buckeyes another veteran piece to work with Scott as Thurman continues to develop.
