Ohio State LB Justin Hilliard is petitioning the NCAA for additional eligibility

It’s safe to say Justin Hilliard’s career has not gone as expected at Ohio State.
At one time, Hilliard was a five-star prospect and top-50 recruit nationally for the 2015 class. He was ranked the No. 3 OLB nationally and top player from the state of Ohio in 2015 on the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
Unfortunately, Hilliard has battled through three serious injuries that have derailed his time in Columbus. Currently in his fifth season with the program, Hilliard has 43 career tackles and three tackles for loss.

On Wednesday, Hilliard announced that he has filed for a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA. However, even if it is approved, he admitted that he is still unsure of what he would do.
Colin Hass-Hill with Eleven Warriors shared Hilliard’s comments:
Justin Hilliard has filed a petition with the NCAA for a sixth year at Ohio State. If approved, he would “probably” return and play next year. However, he says still not completely sure, so he’s approaching this as his last season.

It is always tough to see injuries impact a young player, but it is great to see Hilliard battle through and still contribute this season. He has five total tackles and two tackles for loss in 2019.
