Ohio State LB Steele Chambers is getting some national recognition for his standout performance in the Buckeyes’ Week 3 win over Western Kentucky.

On Monday, the Shrine Bowl named Chambers its Defensive Breakout Player of the Week. The veteran linebacker had 8 tackles, including 4 solo stops, and an interception in OSU’s 63-10 victory over the Hilltoppers.

Chambers is in his fifth year at Ohio State. He has the option to play a sixth season of college football with the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver for 2020, but is clearly on the Shrine Bowl’s radar as a potential NFL Draft prospect.

In 2022, Chambers logged the best season of his career as a defender since he made the switch from running back in 2021. Chambers is on track to top those numbers in 2023.

Chambers recorded 59 total tackles in 11 games last year. This season, he already has 19 tackles through 3 games.

No. 6 Ohio State is 3-0 after wins over Indiana, Youngstown State and Western Kentucky. Chambers and the Buckeyes defense is in for a much bigger challenge in Week 4 with a trip to South Bend on tap to face No. 9 Notre Dame.
