Ohio State entered Early Signing Day with some question marks in the 2024 recruiting class. In the end, the Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day sweated some bullets but were rewarded with some major signings.

The major storyline for Wednesday centered around Jeremiah Smith, the nation’s No. 1 player and a 5-star receiver out of Florida. Despite a late push from Miami, Smith maintained his commitment to sign with Ohio State in the early period, a decision that made Day visibly express relief at his press conference.

Another 5-star player that Ohio State was waiting for was Eddrick Houston, a major defensive lineman out of Buford, Georgia. Alabama had a late push but Houston ultimately signed with the Buckeyes, a decision that was potentially relayed to Day via a phone call that interrupted his press conference.

Overall, Ohio State has signed or will sign 5 players with a 5-star rating on the 247 Sports Composite. That number leads the country with Georgia and Texas finishing second with 4 5-star players apiece.

Kirby Smart’s Georgia program has already wrapped up the No. 1 class for the 2024 recruiting cycle, but that does not diminish the work of Day and his staff. The Buckeyes are currently ranked the No. 3 class in the country, only trailing Georgia and Alabama from the SEC.

Here are the 5-star players joining the Buckeyes this cycle:

  • WR Jeremiah Smith (Chaminade-Madonna Prep, Florida) — No. 1 overall player and WR
  • WR Mylan Graham (New Haven High School, Indiana) — No. 23 overall player, No. 7 WR
  • DL Eddrick Houston (Buford High School, Georgia) — No. 26 overall player, No. 5 DL
  • CB Aaron Scott (Springfield High School, Ohio) — No. 34 overall player, No. 2 CB
  • QB Air Noland (Langston Hughes High School, Georgia) — No. 36 overall player, No. 4 QB
