Ohio State picked up a win on the field this weekend but suffered a loss on the recruiting trail. A 4-star running back in the 2019 class has decided to decommit.

According to Kyle Neddenriep of the Indianapolis Star, 4-star running back Sampson James has decommitted from Ohio State and will reopen his recruitment. The Avon, Indiana native is expected to have a high level of interest in Indiana.

The Buckeyes defeated the Hoosiers in Columbus on Saturday 49-26.

James is listed as the eighth-best running back in the 2019 class and is the third-best talent out of Indiana. He’s a top 200 recruit according to 247Sports, coming in at No. 163.

The athletic back has 20 offers, including nine from B1G schools. According to the 247 Sports Crystal Ball, James is leaning toward Indiana.

Ohio State now has 14 pledges in its 2019 class and ranks 14th nationally. The Buckeyes have the third-best class in the B1G.
