Ohio State loses pledge from 4-star DL in 2025 recruiting class
Ohio State is trying to finalize the 2025 recruiting class, but a key player previously committed to the Buckeyes has decided to re-open his recruitment.
The player is London Merritt, a 4-star edge prospect out of Florida’s IMG Academy. Merritt began his high school in Georgia before transferring to IMG for his senior season and is a 6-foot-2.5 and 250-pound prospect.
He originally committed to Ohio State in March, but has re-opened his commitment with the Early Signing Period quickly approaching.
“After much careful consideration, I have decided to respectfully decommit from the Ohio State University,” wrote Merritt. “This was not an easy decision, as I have immense respect for Coach Johnson, Coach Day and the coaching staff.”

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Merritt is a 4-star recruit and the No. 13 edge prospect in the country. He’s also a top-200 prospect checking in as the 144th overall player for the 2025 recruiting class.
Even with the loss of Merritt, Ohio State maintains the No. 2 recruiting class for the 2025 cycle, a group headlined by a trio of 5-star players. We’ll see how the Buckeyes continue to round out that class moving forward.
