Ohio State already has one of the best recruiting classes in the nation for 2022, and another elite recruit is still considering the Buckeyes.

That player is Shemar Stewart, a 5-star defensive lineman out of Opa Locka, Florida. He unveiled his top 5 Thursday evening with Ohio State joined by Texas A&M, Georgia, Clemson, and Miami.

According to the industry-generated composite rankings, Stewart is the 8th best prospect in the nation and the 3rd best defensive lineman in the country. He is also the top player out of Florida for the cycle.

As things currently stand, Ohio State’s class for 2022 ranks 3rd in the nation. The Buckeyes used to have the top class, and the only reason that ranking dropped is due to Quinn Ewers’ reclassification to 2021.

Ohio State currently holds commitments from 5 of the top-70 players for the cycle. That group is headlined by linebacker C.J. Hicks, the No. 17 player nationally for 2022.
