Another future 5-star prospect is considering Ohio State as a potential destination.
Thursday, cornerback Cormani McClain released his Top 5 to On3 Recruits. Ohio State made the cut, along with other blueblood programs Alabama, Florida, Florida State and Miami.
McClain, a member of the 2023 class, is a native of Lakeland, Florida. He’s ranked as the No. 3 cornerback and No. 20 overall prospect of the cycle, per 247Sports Composite.
Breaking: Cormani McClain is the no.5 player on @On3Recruits and his top five consist of #Bama, #Gators, #FSU, #Canes and #OhioState.
A strong home-state feel to this list, but still a ways to go in his recruitment.

Over two dozen programs have offered the 6-foot-2, 165-pound defensive back. Plenty of schools have expressed interest after McClain after the 5-star prospect tallied 29 tackles and 9 interceptions during the 2020 campaign at Lake Gibson.
From 247Sports recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins:
Looks the part with long arms and long legs. A two-way athlete with elite ball skills that has produced as a wide receiver, but projects as a cornerback at the next level given how he moves and changes directions. Smooth in the backpedal for someone that initially started high school career off playing mostly offense. Quick trigger skills lead to plenty of takeaways. Not the strongest individual, but understands how to fight with his hands and redirect at the line of scrimmage. Best attribute at this stage in his development might be the ability to naturally mirror with his loose, fluid hips.
Ohio State currently owns the nation’s No. 3 class of the 2022 recruiting cycle. The Buckeyes do not have a verbal pledge from a 2023 prospect yet.
