Ohio State men's basketball coach Chris Holtmann shares how transfer portal changes will impact HS recruiting
Ohio State basketball will tip off next month and coach Chris Holtmann believes the transfer portal changes will have a major impact on high school recruiting.
In addition to having more longterm conversations with players during the season, Holtmann said he believes many coaches will focus less on high school recruiting in the future with an eye on adding players through the portal in the spring.

Chris Holtmann at the podium now with some good thoughts on the portal/lack of continuity. Says there will be more conversations needed with players/people around players during the season that didn’t happen 10-15 years ago.

Chris Holtmann said what I’ve heard from other coaches about the transfer portal: Expect less of a focus on HS recruiting and more on saving scholarships for the spring.
