Ohio State has named its 6 team captains for the 2022 campaign. Block O jersey recipient Kam Babb, a repeat captain, will be joined by quarterback C.J. Stroud, tight end Cade Stover, defensive lineman Tyler Friday, linebacker Tommy Eichenberg and safety Kourt Williams. Stroud was the overall leading vote getter.

Babb is only the 15th Buckeye to be a team captain multiple times. The graduate wide receiver has persevered through multiple injuries.

Eichenberg enters his fourth year at OSU. He capped a breakout 2021 season with a Rose Bowl game record of 17 tackles in the thrilling win over Utah.

Friday redshirted in 2021 because of injury. A fifth-year player, Friday has played in 26 games, logging 5 starts during his Buckeye career.

Stover is in his fourth season. He has experience on both sides of the ball, playing 21 game at tight end (15), defensive end (4) and linebacker (2). He started at linebacker in the Rose Bowl. On offense, he has 5 career catches for 76 yards.

Stroud enters 2022 coming off of a stellar 2021 season. Stroud threw for 4,435 yards and 44 touchdowns with just 6 interceptions last season, becoming the first player in Big Ten history to be named its offensive player, quarterback and freshman of the year. Stroud was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2021, and he might win the award in 2022 with a super sophomore season.

Williams enters his third season with the program. He redshirted in 2020 and played in 11 games last season, including a start in the Rose Bowl.
