Ohio State names players of the week from Week 2 win over Youngstown State
Ohio State on Sunday announced its players of the week following a 35-7 win over in-state FCS foe Youngstown State.
On offense, Emeka Egbuka gained the nod after his 5-catch, 94-yard, 1-touchdown performance. Egbuka bounced back in a massive way after just 16 yards on 3 catches against Indiana in the season opener.
Tommy Eichenberg and Denzel Burke shared defensive player of the week honors. Eichenberg was credited with 6 tackles and a sack, while Burke had an interception and graded out at 93 percent against the Penguin offense.
Cody Simon was named the special teams player of the week. Simon finished the day with 4 tackles.
The Buckeyes are 2-0 with wins over Indiana and now Youngstown State. While it wasn’t a perfect game against the Penguins, the Buckeyes outgained them 482-234 despite a 5-of-12 day on 3rd down. Kyle McCord threw for 258 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Up next is Western Kentucky on Saturday, a 4 p.m. ET kickoff time on FOX.
