Ohio State OC Kevin Wilson calls Justin Fields the 'fastest quarterback' he's seen
There’s no shortage of hype on Justin Fields. Every since the former five-star quarterback decided to leave Georgia and commit to Ohio State, he’s been heralded as the next great Buckeye quarterback.
Fields has some major shoes to fill, not only stepping in for record-breaking quarterback Dwayne Haskins, but J.T. Barrett had a strong career during his time in Columbus. There’s a high bar for quarterback play in the Buckeye state.
Ryan Day, Kevin Wilson, and everyone else on Ohio State’s staff is a big believer in Fields, though. Wilson, Ohio State’s offensive coordinator and tight ends coach, still can’t quite believe the speed he brings to the position.

“When he takes off running, he’s maybe as fast as I’ve seen at quarterback,” Wilson said, according to Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors.
Fields has that dual-threat ability and can keep defenses on their toes with his arm strength and incredible speed. But Day isn’t too keen on using Fields as much in the run game as you’d might expect.

Earlier in the offseason, Day said the staff will calculate Fields’ running ability and will somewhat limit when he takes off. The head coach doesn’t want to see his prized quarterback take a lot of hits during the season, an understandable request.
Still, the idea that Fields is as fast as any quarterback Wilson has seen is pretty high praise. We’ll get to see at least a glimpse of that on Saturday against Florida Atlantic.
