Ohio State’s 2021 recruiting class is well on its way to becoming one of the best we’ve ever seen. But Ryan Day and his staff isn’t simply focusing on that cycle, they’re also looking ahead.

The Buckeyes got on the board in the 2022 recruiting class on Wednesday, landing a verbal pledge from four-star cornerback Jyaire Brown out of New Orleans. He’s the first player of the cycle to give a commitment to OSU.

“I want to thank all the coaches who have invested in recruiting me and the relationships I have formed over a short period of time,” Brown wrote on Twitter. “With that being said I am 1000% committed to THE Ohio State University!!”

According to 247Sports, Brown ranks as one of the top 125 players in the 2022 recruiting class, coming in at No. 122. He’s also listed as the No. 16 cornerback and the sixth-best player out of Louisiana.

Brown held 19 offers on the recruiting trail, but picked Ohio State over Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M, among others.

It appears that Ohio State’s success on the field and the 2021 recruiting class is translating to future classes. The Buckeyes currently own the nation’s top class in 2021 by a wide margin.
