Ohio State is hitting the road in Week 4, heading to South Bend for a top-10 battle against No. 9 Notre Dame. It will be the second road game of the season for the Buckeyes after a Week 1 win at Indiana for the program.

The game should have early-season College Football Playoff implications with Ryan Day’s 3-0 team facing Marcus Freeman and a 4-0 Notre Dame squad. And while the game will not impact Ohio State’s chances of a B1G title, it’s an important game if the Buckeyes want to keep pace in the national championship odds. As for the Week 4 game, Ohio State hits the road and will be a slight favorite away from Columbus. Circa Sports released the lines for major college football games next weekend with the Buckeyes opening as -3 favorites in the matchup.

Regardless of the spread, this will be by far Ohio State’s biggest challenge to begin the season. Notre Dame is averaging over 500 yards of offense to start the season with a balanced attack led by quarterback Sam Hartman.

The former Wake Forest star and veteran QB has been a lifesaver for the Fighting Irish. He has completed over 70% of his passes for just over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns without an interception. As a result, Notre Dame has scored 41+ points in every game this season.

Ohio State’s offense will also face a stiff test against a Notre Dame defensive unit that hasn’t surrendered more than 24 points in 4 games.

Saturday’s action is set for primetime with a 7:30 pm ET kickoff on NBC.
