It’ll be a new group of receivers at Ohio State in 2022. Though Jaxon Smit-Njigba is returning, some new starters will be seen at the other two positions.

Dan Hope and Griffin Strom with Eleven Warriors provided some insight into what the starting group of receivers might look like in 2022. According to those two, Julian Fleming is currently in the lead for the starting receiver at the Z position. Marvin Harrison Jr. is taking a lot of 1st-team reps at X, while Smith-Njigba is set up to be the slot receiver so far.

Ryan Day also gave some insight on what the team’s plans are for the WR group on Thursday. The team did some drills at practice recently, showing who is at what position currently. Even if that is the projected receiving lineup, Day has indicated a desire to rotate guys with the deep talent of the Buckeyes at receiver.

Another thing to watch is how the team plans on using Emeka Egbuka. The sophomore wideout is catching Day’s eye with how well he’s been working so far. He is apparently in the running for the 3rd starting spot behind Fleming.

We’ll see how Ryan Day ends up using his receivers this season.
