Ohio State QB CJ Stroud earns national honor for massive output vs. Michigan State
It should come as no surprise, but after his demolition of what was a top-10 Michigan State team, Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud picked up a National Player of the Week honor on Sunday.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation announced on Sunday that Stroud had earned National Offensive Player of the Week for Week 12.

The redshirt freshman was electric on Saturday in the Buckeyes’ 56-7 win over the 7th-ranked Spartans. Stroud had more touchdown tosses than incompletions, at one point setting a school record for consecutive completions with 17 straight.
On the day, Stroud was 32-for-35 passing with 432 yards and 6 touchdowns. Each of his 6 touchdowns came in the game’s first 30 minutes; the Buckeyes built a 49-0 halftime lead.
In the process, Stroud became the odds-on favorite to win the 2021 Heisman Trophy, according to some sportsbooks.
The first-year starter is now up to 3,468 yards passing this season, the most among Big Ten quarterbacks and the 8th-best mark among all quarterbacks in college football. His 36 touchdown passes also ranks No. 1 among Big Ten quarterbacks, with the gap between him and No. 2 Payton Thorne (14) bigger than the gap between No. 2 and No. 11 on the Big Ten leaderboard.
Ohio State (10-1, 8-0 Big Ten) is now just a win over Michigan away from another trip to Indianapolis and the Big Ten championship game.
