Justin Fields experienced a heck of a start to his Ohio State career. He completed 72 percent of his passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 61 yards and another score.

His five touchdowns tied Dwyane Haskins for the most scores by an Ohio State quarterback in his first start. Fields was unaware of the record during the game, and admitted Tuesday, had he known about it, he would have tried harder to break it.

“I think I could have scored one more,” he said according to Eleven Warriors senior reporter Dan Hope. “If I had known that was the record, I would have tried to score another one.”

Fields also commented on the hits he took against Florida Atlantic. While he played sparingly in the SEC last year, getting hit regularly at the college level is still new for Fields, and he called himself “crazy sore” from the contact in his first start.

It will be interesting to see if Fields adjusts and begins sliding to avoid big collisions, especially in conference play.
