Ohio State releases availability report for CFP matchup vs. Tennessee
Ohio State football released its availability report ahead of Saturday’s College Football Playoff matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers, revealing that the Buckeyes would be without just a handful of players. Zero players were listed as questionable for the contest.
And there were no surprises here, with quarterback Mason Maggs, running back TC Caffey, center Seth McLaughlin and offensive lineman Josh Simmons all ruled out for the game. Every player on that list outside of Maggs has been ruled out for the season, so this was anticipated.
Here’s a look at the complete report:
The good news for the Buckeyes is that this leaves the team without just two of its usual starters in McLaughlin and Simmons. Outside of the obvious loss of McLaughlin and Simmons, the offensive line for Ohio State will be something to keep an eye on in this game as head coach Ryan Day has indicated that sophomore Luke Montgomery could play some action at left guard.
That is not the only thing that could be different where the O-line is concerned, either. Austin Siereveld and Tegra Tshabola could also trade off at right guard and Joshua Padilla has a small chance of making an appearance at some point.
Ohio State and Tennessee are set to kick off at 8 p.m. ET in Ohio Stadium.
