“That statement is to be made,” he said. “We have a choice to make, not a chance, but a choice. Something not just given, but achieved. We are here to make sure everyone knows who we are. Disciplined. Fight. Brotherhood. That’s just the start of it.”
Ohio State is 6-0, but still has much to prove, and that is the point made in the video. Every game is a statement for this team given how last season ended and how the last time the two teams matched up in 2017.
Last season ended with a win over Utah in the Rose Bowl, but any season for this program that doesn’t end in a Playoff appearance is a disappointment. When Ohio State last played Iowa, the unranked Hawkeyes throttled the No. 5 Buckeyes 55-24, and it is certainly still on head coach Ryan Day’s mind, who was in his first season on staff in Columbus.
Ohio State will be looking to make that “statement” on Saturday, even if the programs are headed in two different directions this season.
