Shortly after it was reported that Ohio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith, who was a longtime assistant to head coach Urban Meyer, was terminated, the University released a brief statement on the matter.

“Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has announced the termination of wide receiver’s coach Zach Smith,” the statement read. “Coaching staff adjustments will be announced at a later date.”

The announcement came on Monday night, shortly after two alleged domestic assaults were reported by college football insider Brett McMurphy. According to McMurphy, the two assaults occurred in 2009 and 2015.

Smith was recently arrested for criminal trespassing while dropping his son off at his ex-wife’s home.

This reports surrounding Smith and his termination will likely be a topic of discussion at B1G Media Day on Tuesday, as Meyer will be at the podium in Chicago at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Smith was an assistant to Meyer for 11 years at Florida and Ohio State.
