Following an 11-2 season that ended in a Cotton Bowl loss to Missouri, Ohio State is set to make a handful of staff changes in the coming weeks according to reports from Footballscoop.com.

According to that report, Day has informed his staff to expect the hire of a new offensive coordinator who will be given the ability to re-evaluate the current staff and make new hirings as needed.

Brian Hartline, who was Ohio State’s offensive coordinator in 2023 and is a top recruiter, is expected to remain with the Buckeyes through these changes, per the report. Hartline played at Ohio State and has been on staff in a variety of roles since the 2017 season.

This comes after the Buckeyes averaged less than 40.0 PPG for the first time since 2016 this past season. They also scored less than 30 points on five difference occasions in 2023, something that had only happened six times in the previous two seasons combined.

The new offensive staff will be working with Kansas State transfer quarterback Will Howard, who committed to join the Buckeyes earlier this week. They will also be charged with retooling an offense that will lose the services of Marvin Harrison Jr., Julian Fleming, Chip Trayanum and TreVeyon Henderson.
