Burton’s move was reported by multiple outlets, including Letterman Row and Cleveland.com. A former 4-star recruit from Del Valle, Texas, Burton did not see any action for Ohio State as a freshman last season and dealt with an injury during spring practice. Burton is the second player from Ohio State to enter the portal after Jake Seibert.

A 4-star prospect coming out of high school, Burton the No. 10 receiver in the 2022 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. He was the country’s No. 71 overall player and the No. 12 player from his home state. He committed to Ohio State over the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Oklahoma.

In high school, Burton caught 82 passes for 1,515 yards and 18 touchdowns during his freshman and sophomore seasons with Del Valle High School before he missed his junior year with a knee injury.
