Ohio State is now apparently making some moves in the coaching carousel.

The Buckeyes are targeting Oklahoma State’s Jim Knowles to become their next defensive coordinator. Knowles was a finalist for the Frank Broyles Award, and helped lead the Cowboys to their first Big 12 Championship game.

Austin Ward of On3 Sports broke the news on Tuesday afternoon from his Twitter account.

Under Knowles, Oklahoma State’s defense finished 8th nationally in points allowed per game with 18.8, and 3rd nationally in yards allowed per game with 273.6.

This could a huge hire if true. However,  for now Oklahoma State is preparing for its bowl game with Notre Dame in the Playstation Fiesta Bowl.

No. 5 Notre Dame (11-1) and No. 9 Oklahoma State (11-2) face off at State Farm Stadium on New Year’s Day at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN.
