The 2021 fiscal year was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw reduced ticket sales. The 2022 revenue more than doubled the 2021 numbers ($106.9 million) while also eclipsing the school’s record from FY 2020 ($233.9 million).

“Buckeye Nation continues to show their tremendous support for our incredible student-athletes, our coaches and our support staff. We are grateful for the enthusiasm they bring to our stadiums, fields and pools,” said Gene Smith, senior vice president and Wolfe Foundation endowed athletic director.

According to USA TODAY, Ohio State’s 2022 revenue total is the second-highest posted by an athletic department since 2005. Oregon holds the record with$391.8 million in revenue in 2020, which included a “one-time non-cash gift” of more than $270 million in renovations to the Hayward Field track-and-field facility.
