Ohio State has one of the best athletic departments in the country. That’s no secret.
The Buckeyes were revealed as the highest revenue earning athletic program of the 2022 calendar year Wednesday, according to USA Today. Ohio State reported revenue of over $251.6 million with expenses over $225 million. This beat out every non-private school in the country, excluding programs like Notre Dame, USC and Miami.
Ohio State was one of 2 B1G programs to crack the top 5, joining No. 4 Michigan. Penn State came in at 9th on the list.

There’s a pretty solid relationship between a top number on this list and football dominance. College football is king, after all.
In addition to being the top earner of the 2022 year, Ohio State placed 3rd in the Learfield Directors Cup standings, released Tuesday. The Buckeyes were behind Stanford and Texas.
