This is the first time the Buckeyes have worn scarlet jerseys and pants since 2021. In that 2021 game, the No. 5 Buckeyes beat No. 20 Penn State 33-24 at Ohio Stadium.
Typically, the Buckeyes wear scarlet jerseys with grey pants at home and white jerseys and grey pants on the road.
This will be just the 2nd all-time meeting between the Buckeyes and Vols.. The first meeting was back in the 1996 Citrus Bowl when the Vols escaped with a 20-14 victory. Heading into this matchup, both the Vols and Buckeyes have a 10-2 record. The Buckeyes are the No. 8 seed while the Vols are the No. 9 seed. The lone losses for the Buckeyes came to Michigan and Oregon while Tennessee lost to Arkansas and Georgia.
As of Monday night, the Buckeyes were a 7-point favorite over the Vols. The first-round game will kick off from Ohio Stadium on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET. The winner of this matchup will take on No. 1 Oregon in the Rose Bowl.
