Ohio State takes No. 1 in Vegas Power Rankings after Georgia's Week 5 loss
Ohio State is the No. 1 team in the country in the eyes of Las Vegas handicappers.
College football guru Phil Steele has connections to oddsmakers at the Las Vegas SuperBook and other casinos. Steele has published weekly in-season Vegas Power Ratings since his time at ESPN. He is independent these days but continues to publish the Vegas numbers in weekly updates during the season.
He shared the Week 6 numbers on Tuesday on his website. Ohio State is the new No. 1 in the Vegas Rankings.

The latest AP Top 25 has Alabama No. 1 after the Crimson Tide defeated a top-5 Georgia team in a thriller. Texas held onto the No. 1 spot in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll.
Steele points out that Vegas Rankings aren’t like other polls:
“This is not the AP Poll but gives you an idea of how much teams would be favored over another team if they met on a neutral field,” Steele writes. “I use these to get an idea of lines on upcoming games. Keep in mind, just because a team beat someone last week does not mean they would be favored over them in the Vegas ratings. AP voters must vote that way, but Vegas does not.”
