Despite being a veteran option for the Buckeyes in their TE room, Gurd did not have a big role as a pass catcher in Ohio State’s offense this season. He caught 1 pass for 6 yards in 2024 and 2 has receptions in his career.
He also served as Ohio State’s fullback in certain packages during his career with Ohio State. However, he has 0 career carries at the collegiate level.
Patrick Gurd arrived at Ohio State as a walk-on back in 2020. He will have 1 season of eligibility at his next stop.
It’s unclear if Gurd will remain with the team through the end of the College Football Playoff or if he will depart the team immediately. Ohio State will face Texas in the Cotton Bowl later this week with a trip to the national championship game on the line.
