The Ohio State Buckeyes will be without a pair of starters as they prepare to take the field against the Akron Zips.

Standout offensive lineman Donovan Jackson is out for the opener, in addition to linebacker Cody Simon. The report does not specify why players are listed on it, but it has been known that both Jackson and Simon have been dealing with some minor issues.

The program lists 5 other players who will also be out of the fold for the game, including Devontae Armstrong, Jayden Bonus, Cade Casto, Reis Stocksdale and Timothy Caffey. Caffey has been ruled out for the entirety of the season. The Buckeyes list no questionable players for the contest.

Here’s a look at the official availability report for the contest.

This will be the first game for several Ohio State newcomers, including quarterback Will Howard, running back Quinshon Judkins and safety Caleb Downs. The Buckeyes signed one of the top transfer classes in the country this past offseason.

It’s also the highly-anticipated debut for former 5-star receiver Jeremiah Smith, who has earned a spot in the starting lineup according to coach Ryan Day.

The Buckeyes and the Zips are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET in Akron’s house, with Ohio State entering as a heavy favorite of 48.5 points, per FanDuel.
