Ohio State is going to be down a key group of defensive starters for the Week 11 game against Michigan State.

Heading into Saturday’s game against the Spartans, the Buckeyes released the availability report that included a trio of defenders ruled out for the game. That group is linebacker Tommy Eichenberg, safety Lathan Ransom and defensive back Josh Proctor.

Eichenberg and Proctor both started the game against Rutgers but were injured in the win for the Buckeyes. Ransom did not play, meaning Week 11 will mark back-to-back absences for the defender.

Some good news for the Buckeyes is that Denzel Burke was not listed anywhere on the availability report. He missed last week’s game at Rutgers alongside Ransom.

From that group, Eichenberg is the team’s leading tackler with 75 total tackles in the middle of the defense. No other player has reached 55 tackles entering Week 11.

Proctor and Ransom are included in the group of 6 Buckeyes with an interception this season. Proctor is also second on the team with 7 pass breakups.

Overall, Ohio State is likely to still get past Michigan State in Columbus with the current state of the defense. However, it is important Ohio State gets the defense back to full health quickly with The Game in Ann Arbor approaching just two weeks away.
