A tradition started by former head coach and current CFB on FOX analyst Urban Meyer, Ohio State Buckeyes freshman begin their careers in Columbus with a black stripe on their helmets.

Using this practice since his days with the Bowling Green Falcons, Meyer would reward his underclassmen with the trademark scarlet stripe on their helmets once it had been earned in the eyes of the coaching staff.

Continuing this motivational tactic since he took over for Meyer, Ryan Day and his staff added another member, redshirt freshman quarterback Jagger LaRoe, to the group of players whom have earned their regular stripes on Wednesday.

Ohio State football shared video of the scene on Twitter:

A product of Colleyville Heritage High School in Texas, LaRoe committed to the Texas A&M Aggies and spent his freshman year in College Station. He transferred to Ohio State in the summer of 2019.

Ranked No. 2 in the country, the Buckeyes are off to a tremendous 9-0 start. Looking to reach the double-digit win mark for the eighth consecutive season, Ohio State travels to Piscataway to battle the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2-7) on Saturday at 3:30PM ET on BTN.
