Ohio State trolls Rutgers with Player of the Game announcement following on-field altercation

There was some drama in Ohio State’s win over Rutgers on Saturday. Ryan Day and Greg Schiano were seen screaming at each other after a late hit penalty on a fake punt.

Buckeye punter Jesse Mirco got crushed out of bounds by Rutgers returner Aron Cruickshank. Ohio State’s and Rutgers’ coaches had to be separated following the play. Both Day and Schiano were given unsportsmanlike penalties as well.

To stoke the fire a little more, Ohio State football posted a tweet with Mirco announced as the Special Teams Player of the Game on Sunday.

As expected, this sent social media into a frenzy. Ohio State fans loved every minute of it.

Ohio State went on to beat Rutgers 49-10 and remain undefeated. After Week 5, the only undefeated teams in the B1G are Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State. Minnesota would have stayed undefeated if it didn’t get upset by Purdue at home.
