Ohio State not only missed the presence of Jaxon Smith-Njigba for the majority of the game against Notre Dame, but also Julian Fleming. Griffin Strom of Eleven Warriors posted a video of Fleming leaving practice with his pads in his hand with Buckeye WR coach Brian Hartline.

Ryan Day confirmed that Fleming tweaked something heading into the game, and did not play because of it. Fleming is expected to be a big part of the Buckeye receiving core this season. He had 86 yards receiving and 1 touchdown in 2021.

Regardless of whether or not he will be ready for the team’s next 2 games, the team should be fine. If anything, Arkansas State and Toledo will allow for the team to get everyone healthy by the time B1G play starts.

Emeka Egbuka filled in nicely at wideout with both Fleming and Smith-Njigba out. Egbuka had 90 yards receiving and 1 touchdown against Notre Dame.
